FUME HOOD TESTING

Precision Air & Water Balance offers comprehensive testing of chemical fume hoods following the ASHRAE-110 guidelines. All testing is performed in accordance with established Precision standard operating procedures (SOPs), which are compliant with state, federal and international safety standard guidelines. Fume hoods are tested in accordance with AIHAJANSI 29.5, ASHRAE-110 and OSHA.
Precision Air & Water Balance ANSHASHRAE-110 testing provides quantitative data used to evaluate the containment performance of fume hoods including:
  • Local and large volume-smoke visualization testing-verifies acceptable capture performance for the unit

  • Cross-draft testing - measures the amount of vertical and horizontal crosscurrent activity at the face of the unit

  • VAV volume air-volume) testing-determines the optimal fume hood sash positions and acceptable stabilization time for the unit

  • Tracer gas containment testing verifies containment and re-entrainment of the unit by simulating a controlled chemical release inside the fume hood and monitoring

SOUND & VIBRATION TESTING

SOUND-LEVEL READINGS Sound-level measurement with and without with and without equipment running, to determine speech interference, hazards to hearing, and machinery troubleshooting.

VIBRATION CONTROL Vibration measurement and dynamic balancing of rotating equipment to reduce vibration and noise generation and extend the life of the equipment.

THERMAL IMAGING

Thermal Imaging is a growing field in non-destructive testing of buildings, mechanical systems and electrical systems. Annual surveys can find problems before critical shutdown occur saving time and money in any plant operation.

Thermal Imaging is an excellent tool in nondestructive testing to find anomalies in buildings, mechanical and electrical equipment.

Thermal Imaging can be used in conjunction with Blower Door Testing while the building is in either a positive or negative pressure condition. In this mode, leaks of all sizes can be easily detected.

Thermal Imaging is an excellent tool for identifying the improper alignment in bearings, couplings, pumps and belts by identifying the related thermal hot spots.

Thermal Imaging is an excellent tool for identifying failing electrical equipment as well as poor electrical connections and other related electrical issues.

DUCT AIR LEAKAGE TESTING (DALT)

Can conserve energy

  • 10-30% of heated/cooled air lost through ductwork

  • Leaky supply ducts don't deliver air where needed

  • Leaky return ducts add load

Can improve Air Quality, leaky returns can pull air from uncontrolled spaces, causing:

  • Humidity problems

  • Contaminants

Ductwork that leaks is the major source of wasted energy in a building and contributes to indoor air quality, room pressurization issues, TAB deficiency issues and noice issues.
